Rising first-graders and their families met in the Jetnasium for their inaugural Moving Up Ceremony. After the opening remarks, the kindergartners sang the ‘Count by 10 Song’, ‘The Short Vowel Song’, and ‘Macarena Months of the Year’ to showcase their learning. The string orchestra also performed a student-arranged rendition of ‘Goodbye Now’ (이젠 안녕) by 015B to commemorate the day. The graduating class then received their certificates from Mr. Jolly and celebrated by taking photos alongside family members and friends. Here are the highlights of the event.

Enthusiastic students from the ECC building ran through the hallways, finding as many number panels as they could on the 100th day of school. Students participated in multiple activities centered around the special number, celebrating the milestone. Ms. White described, “Students made superhero capes and chose 100 different items to put on the cape. They also did various math activities such as a scavenger hunt, where they searched for 100 numbers around campus.”

May is the month of moving on and preparing for a new chapter of your life. The Kindergarten Rising-up Ceremony took place on May 24th. The rising elementary students got to experience their first graduation in the gym, where they received their first certificates. Once the ceremony was over, the ecstatic kindergarten graduates were able to take photos with proud parents. Afterward, the students and their parents celebrated the rest of their day with refreshing drinks from the Snack Shack.

Authors exist across all ages, and the proof is right here at DIS – our kindergarten students are already wordsmiths in their own right. In fact, on November 11th, our very own kindergarteners opened a functional bookshop to show off their self-written short stories. First grade friends were invited to the event as buyers, while school administrators Mrs. Jolly, Mr. Jolly and Mr. Seward visited, along with first grade teacher Ms. Suozzo.
