Too Many Players on the Field

Athletics at DIS are sometimes used as a ‘resume builder.’ Sure, there are athletes who dedicate their time and effort to play the sport, but some students join the team for an additional glitter on their resume. With many universities wanting well-rounded students, those, especially international students, sign up for teams without true passion, but for an application boost.

[Photos] Jets Raise the Net for High School Volleyball Divisional

The high school volleyball divisional was hosted on Saturday, October 15th, at DIS. From 9 AM to 5 PM, the teams shared court time in 4 different locations. Families, fans, and other members of the DIS community showed up to show school spirit. While our mascot, Glider, cheered and posed for photos all day long, parents sold delicious snacks in the Snack Shack with the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). With the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) members keeping score during matches and guest referees from the Daegu Volleyball Association, a fair tournament was ensured. For the boys, Team 1 finished in first place going undefeated, Team 2 won two games, and Team 3 also finished strong. For the girls, Teams 1 and 2 both won two games and Teams 3 and 4 also showed great effort. The volleyball teams look forward to bringing home the trophy from the finals held on November 17th at Busan Foreign School (BFS) and the International School of Busan (ISB).

DIS Christens the Gym and Snack Shack

Sarah Lee and Alyssa Chang March 3, 2022
The campus has undergone a massive glow-up throughout the school year, but it’s not over yet. Our school is building a snack shack (a working title for the facility) in front of the cafeteria. Both this location and the gym will be renamed by DIS students.
