Apple Myeongdong: Cool New Space, Same Old Stuff

Korea’s largest Apple Store had its grand opening on April 9th. Located in the Centerpoint in Myeongdong, one of the most famous shopping centers in Korea, it was bustling with people from day one. All customers that came to the opening ceremony received special gifts – eco-bag and stickers with the Apple Myeongdong logo.

Apple Stores in Korea: Retailers vs Resellers

Currently, there are only three official Apple stores in South Korea, all of which are in Seoul. The stores opened in 2018, 2021, and 2022 respectively—one in Garosugil, the other in Yeouido, and the last in Myeongdong. Despite there being so few authentic storefronts, there are hundreds of Apple resellers in Korea. If you’re wondering what the difference is between retailers and resellers, or if it’s even worth going to the official stores at all, here are the things to consider.
