The National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS) hosted a Chinese Culture Activity Night on Feb. 23 in Mr. Zhao’s classroom. During the event, elementary students explored the Chinese zodiac, a system of twelve animals that represent different birth years and cultural symbolism. After a brief presentation introducing the zodiac signs and their meanings, students participated in a hands-on activity where they created and decorated cookies shaped like their zodiac animals.
Third grader Jeff Lee eagerly takes a big bite of his freshly made cookie. His wide-open eyes and mouth capture the excitement of tasting his personal treats.
