[Photos] Middle school boys’ futsal team delivers a standout season with podium finishes across all tournaments

The middle school boys’ futsal team unites for a quick group photo marking a season of growth, teamwork and steady dedication.

The middle school boys’ futsal team wrapped up the season with consistent victories in the SKAIS (South Korea Association of International Schools) and KISAC (Korean International Schools Activities Conference) tournaments. Varsity launched the season with a powerful win in the triangular match against GIFS (Gyeongnam International Foreign School) at the Joo-young Park Soccer Stadium on Nov. 8, a full sized pitch before the anticipated final tournaments. 

With a solid start, varsity and junior varsity traveled to North London Collegiate School (NLCS) for the KISAC tournament on Sept. 16-18. After a series of intense matches, both teams fell short of the podium. Regrouping from their slip-up, they powered through to the SKAIS competition on Nov. 22 at International School of Busan (ISB) and swept the gold medals. 

Through wins and losses, the crew learned determination and perseverance, setting the groundwork for future athletes.

Senior Noah Lee enters his first year on the yearbook staff. He specializes in capturing funny and unforgettable moments through photography, and aims to bring a fresh perspective to the yearbook. Outside of school, Noah spends most of his time on the basketball court, where he finds both excitement and inspiration in the game. When not on the court or behind the camera, he enjoys the Samsung Lions KBO team and baseball video games.

Andy Kang, a budding young writer, joins the journalism staff as a 13 year veteran of Daegu International School. He enjoys people, basketball, and traveling off the beaten path. But most of all, Andy loves to listen to music. He never leaves his house without AirPods and a playlist full of bangers. His favorite album of all time, College Dropout by Kanye West, rules his world. As a very gentle friend and kind-hearted soul, Andy can’t wait for you to greet him and give him a big smile.

Annie returns for her 3rd year on the Flyover staff as a section editor. As a junior she participates in various sports, extracurriculars, and Lunch Clubs. As an enthusiastic forensics student, she leads Science National Honor Society, MUN Club, Peer Tutoring Club, and Debate Club. In her free time, she enjoys books, TV shows, and shooting hoops with her friends. This year she hopes to share deeper and more investigative stories with the DIS community.

With an observant eye for detail and a passion for finding the perfect shot, Esther has quickly made her mark on the DIS media team. From setting up cameras to editing videos, she takes pride in capturing the essence of school life in every shot. Outside of school media, Esther contributes to the community through the Yang-rowon Photo Service club, volunteering her photography skills for elders.
