A burst of music and excitement filled as students, parents, and faculty gather in the Jetnasium for the Elementary Winter Fine Arts Festival on Dec. 18. The stage shimmered with enthusiasm as young performers stepped into the spotlight, each bringing their own creativity and holiday spirit to the celebration.

From cheerful singing to practiced instrumental pieces, the youngsters showcased their musical talent they built throughout semester one. The festival reflected heart and dedication, with each song and rhythm filling the space with warmth. The evening ended on a bright note that celebrated growth and courage in the cold winter season.

William enters his third year in Jets Flyover as a sophomore. With his passion for yapping, he enjoys engaging himself with thoughtful “discussions” of everyday matters. Known already for his noticeable height, he aims to intrigue readers with social issues and dilemmas that impact the community.

Sophia Bae, Section Editor

With a promotion to an arts & entertainment section editor from a regular writer in a year, Sophia joins the newsroom again with an eagerness to help the writers improve their skills. They often invest their free time in movies, music and visual arts, which showcases their enthusiasm for various pieces of media. Sophia won Best of SNO twice last year and hopes to continue their contributions to the Jets Flyover.

Apple Jun, Section Editor

Apple UYoung Jun returns as an editor for her senior year. She enjoys an array of passions that range from sports to Model United Nations. She aims to provide a valuable experience for all writers through the Jets Flyover and Journalism class, and she has made it her mission to deliver compelling stories to the DIS community. Outside of school, Apple loves to travel, pop and classical music, and learn to play various instruments. You can often find her tucked away in a corner with a bucket of popcorn and her favorite movie series—John Wick.

Lily Lee, Writer

Lily Lee returns to the staff with her wide smile and luscious hair. As she watches the clock tick, she reflects on whether or not her name will make a sports banner in the Jetnasium before graduation. Besides fame and glory in the gym, she hopes to leave her mark on the Jets Flyover before her departure. You’ll catch her on the court shooting hoops or buzzing around school on the lookout for mural locations. Nonetheless, she takes great pride in her work ethic and her “tall” stature.

Jio Kim, Writer

Fresh off a life-changing summer journalism course at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Jio Kim returns to the staff for her fifth year. As a lifelong lover of books and history, she hopes to pen controversial and thought-provoking articles. Outside of the newsroom, you’ll probably find her on Duolingo picking up a new language.
