[Photos] DIS students sweep top honors at SKAIS STEM fair with creative and innovative projects

Sophomores CJ Park and junior Yujun Piao present their project to a cohort of fellow participants. Their confident explanations and engaged gestures reflect strong teamwork and chemistry, allowing them to secure their second SKAIS title in two consecutive years.

Elementary, middle and high school students gathered at the AIS campus on Dec. 2 for the annual SKAIS STEM fair to showcase their science projects. The young scientists presented projects across categories in chemistry, biology, physics and astronomy, computer science and engineering, environmental and plant science, robotics and psychology and sociology. The event highlighted student research and innovation, with DIS students receiving recognition for outstanding work in multiple categories.

Jasmine Lee joins the newsroom for her final year of high school. She spent three and a half long years in Shanghai because of her father’s job. Not a big fan of the city, she still misses the friends she made in China. Senior year is not Jasmine’s first foray in the media. She worked on the school broadcasting club at her middle school in Seoul, in a program akin to JBS. And in Shanghai, Jasmine wrote school news at her former campus, SMIC. In the past, Jasmine was fluent in Chinese, but now she claims her proficiency dropped. Still, she steps up to the challenge and joins AP Chinese with Mr. Zhao.

Chloe Cho, a senior at DIS, expands her creativity as the editor in chief of the yearbook staff and a Jet Stream veteran. She hopes to capture candid photos of the DIS community this year. With a keen eye and a knack for storytelling, she aims to create the best yearbook in DIS history.
