[Photos] Jets don green and blue for Spirit Day

Ms. Nagy, Mrs. Loustch, and Mr. Hinkle embody school spirit from head to toe, painting their faces green and blue. “I should’ve worn green lipstick too,” Ms. Nagy said.

From blue and green clothing to face painting and accessories, students donned school colors to showcase their Jets pride on Oct. 30th.

Sophia Bae, Section Editor

With a promotion to an arts & entertainment section editor from a regular writer in a year, Sophia joins the newsroom again with an eagerness to help the writers improve their skills. They often invest their free time in movies, music and visual arts, which showcases their enthusiasm for various pieces of media. Sophia won Best of SNO twice last year and hopes to continue their contributions to the Jets Flyover.

Leanne Yoon, Editor in Chief

Leanne Yoon, dubbed as “Lenny” by her close friends, enters her fifth and final year on staff as the Editor-in-Chief of the Jets Flyover. She makes up for her petite stature with fiery charisma and overflowing passion. As an active leader of clubs such as Menstruation Station, SOAR, Competitive Debate and String Orchestra, Leanne often ponders on what else she could bring to her fellow Jets. Off-campus, she travels all around the world – from the United Arab Emirates to France to Australia – to voice her opinions to an international audience. Leanne writes, takes photos, edits articles, and manages the Flyover. In her final year, she hopes to leave a lasting legacy in the newsroom.

Olya Karpenko, Social Media Manager and Photographer

Olya Karpenko starts her second year with the Jets Flyover. In her junior year, she contributed as an illustrator, but now she expands her skills to take on the role of social media manager. Through a strong passion for art, design, photography, and editing, Olya brings a creative eye to every project she takes on. Outside of school, she enjoys music, TV, and of course, catching up on sleep.

Esther Choi, Writer, Photographer, and Broadcast Journalist

With an observant eye for detail and a passion for finding the perfect shot, Esther has quickly made her mark on the DIS media team. From setting up cameras to editing videos, she takes pride in capturing the essence of school life in every shot. Outside of school media, Esther contributes to the community through the Yang-rowon Photo Service club, volunteering her photography skills for elders.

Noah Don, Photographer

Noah Hwang enters his first year as a photographer. A 13-year veteran of DIS and a member of the KISAC “All-Tournament Team”, he demonstrates his passion for school and sports on a daily basis. In his free time, he tends to grind on Clash Royale and relaxes with his cat, Daisy. He always craved the spotlight in childhood. And now Noah Hwang joins the staff to give others in his community the opportunity to live his dream. Noah continues to grow, improve, thrive, and he works his hardest to make his photos museum-worthy.

Sophie Lee, Broadcast Journalist

Kicking off her junior year, Sophie Lee returns to the Jets Flyover crew as a broadcast journalist. Besides the Jets Flyover, Sophie participates as the zealous lead singer of the DIS Rock Band, the voice of the school in Jets Broadcasting Service, and a ton more. She jams to R&B and channels her love for music into every aspect of her life. Sophie keeps up with pop-culture trends and chats with her friends about the newest and coolest issues. With her unique hobby of hunting down hidden gems in her neighborhood, she lives for food. Whether through articles, videos, or podcasts, Sophie can’t wait to share the latest gossip, reviews, and her opinions with the DIS community.
