As the chilly winds sweep through the air and Christmas songs blast from every corner, the Jets Flyover team gathers to share a piece of ourselves with you. Each staff member brings unique interests and hobbies and weaves a tapestry of diverse passions into the articles we publish.  This holiday season, we present our top staff picks. Whether you seek new books, movies, songs, or recipes, let our recommendations guide your winter explorations.

Alex Seo, Managing Editor
Alex Seo (finally) joins the Journalism class in his sophomore year as the youngest editor on the staff (a.k.a. baby editor). His enthusiasm for Flyover spreads to his friends every Friday when he shares school news and local stories. After writing 10,000 different captions and 20,000 sports articles, he now plans to draft more in-depth feature and opinion pieces. He can’t wait to develop as a writer, an editor, and a sophomore this year.

Annie Cho, Managing Editor
Annie returns for her 3rd year on the Flyover staff as a section editor. As a junior she participates in various sports, extracurriculars, and Lunch Clubs. As an enthusiastic forensics student, she leads Science National Honor Society, MUN Club, Peer Tutoring Club, and Debate Club. In her free time, she enjoys books, TV shows, and shooting hoops with her friends. This year she hopes to share deeper and more investigative stories with the DIS community. 
Apple Jun
Apple Jun, Section Editor
Apple UYoung Jun returns as an editor for her senior year. She enjoys an array of passions that range from sports to Model United Nations. She aims to provide a valuable experience for all writers through the Jets Flyover and Journalism class, and she has made it her mission to deliver compelling stories to the DIS community. Outside of school, Apple loves to travel, pop and classical music, and learn to play various instruments. You can often find her tucked away in a corner with a bucket of popcorn and her favorite movie series—John Wick.
Jessica Woo
Jessica Woo, Editor in Chief
A six year veteran in the Flyover, Jessica Woo returns as a senior for her final Jets Flyover year. As an engaged student who loves to read and write, Jessica loves to help other students improve and always attempts to step up as a writer herself. Jessica loves to communicate and delivers informative messages to the DIS community. As much as she adores writing, Jessica deems herself a baseball-holic and attempts to watch every game if possible. 
Kelly Park
Kelly Park, Writer
Freshman Kelly Park returns to her second year on the Flyover staff. This year, she aspires to become the Anthony Fantano of DIS and broach taboo aspects of Korean society. Outside the newsroom, she indulges in all sorts of hobbies like skiing, golfing and playing the clarinet, but never quite masters one.
Leanne Yoon
Leanne Yoon, Editor in Chief
Leanne Yoon, dubbed as “Lenny” by her close friends, enters her fifth and final year on staff as the Editor-in-Chief of the Jets Flyover. She makes up for her petite stature with fiery charisma and overflowing passion. As an active leader of clubs such as Menstruation Station, SOAR, Competitive Debate and String Orchestra, Leanne often ponders on what else she could bring to her fellow Jets. Off-campus, she travels all around the world – from the United Arab Emirates to France to Australia – to voice her opinions to an international audience. Leanne writes, takes photos, edits articles, and manages the Flyover. In her final year, she hopes to leave a lasting legacy in the newsroom. 

Niharikaa Banerjee
Niharikaa Banerjee, Writer
Niha, a rising junior, is excited to join the journalism class for the first time. With her love for visiting new places and capturing stories, she’s eager to see where this new adventure will take her. Beyond journalism, Niha is also actively involved in the National Honor Society, Gender Equity Network, TEDx, and Students Organizing Against Racism. She’s diving into it all with enthusiasm, ready to make a difference while having fun along the way. 
Selina Son
Selina Son, Managing Editor
DIS veteran Selina Son makes her mark in her final year on the Jets Flyover staff. With confidence, extroversion, and a dash of charisma, she jumps from classroom to classroom to share her hot takes. From social issues to science conspiracies, Selina knows it all. As the president of SOAR and string orchestra, Selina graces the campus with bubbles of entertainment and joy. 
Sophia Bae
Sophia Bae, Section Editor
With a promotion to an arts & entertainment section editor from a regular writer in a year, Sophia joins the newsroom again with an eagerness to help the writers improve their skills. They often invest their free time in movies, music and visual arts, which showcases their enthusiasm for various pieces of media. Sophia won Best of SNO twice last year and hopes to continue their contributions to the Jets Flyover.
Jerome Kwon
Jerome Kwon, Writer
Jerome Kwon strikes back as the veteran opinions section editor of the Flyover. As the “ghost-writer” with the most Best of SNO wins for his writers, Jerome’s skills remain top-notch. Always open to fierce sociopolitical arguments, he helps fellow journalists break new ground with heavy opinion pieces. Jerome aims to improve the Flyover with his passionate team of writers who work tirelessly under his wing.
Eugene Sung
Eugene Sung, Writer
Wake up, drink coffee, go to school, bike home, and fall asleep. A typical schedule repeats itself for what feels like forever. Soon it all comes to an end. DIS veteran Eugene Sung returns to the Jets Flyover team as a writer in his senior year. During his last year at this nostalgic campus, he aspires to enjoy his time left – to visit his favorite places and laugh with his closest friends one final time.  He also hopes to make memories of a lifetime at the Flyover, take candid photos, interview new people, and leave his legacy behind through his writing. 
Lily Lee
Lily Lee, Writer
Lily Lee returns to the staff with her wide smile and luscious hair. As she watches the clock tick, she reflects on whether or not her name will make a sports banner in the Jetnasium before graduation. Besides fame and glory in the gym, she hopes to leave her mark on the Jets Flyover before her departure. You’ll catch her on the court shooting hoops or buzzing around school on the lookout for mural locations.  Nonetheless, she takes great pride in her work ethic and her “tall” stature. 
Anna Yoon
Anna Yoon, Section Editor
DIS veteran Anna Yoon embarks on her final chapter of high school as an editor for the Flyover. Through the articles she pens for the school newspaper, she provides interesting and thought-provoking sneak peeks into the lives of other people. Having already been recognized as a “Best of SNO” writer in her first year, she now turns to also help other students polish their work.        
Ethan Rossmeisl
Ethan Rossmeisl, Writer
From Varsity Basketball to Model United Nations, Ethan Rossmeisl displays proficiency in anything he sets his sights on. For a decade, with his wide range of talents, Ethan dominated all grounds. He portrayed Superman. Now, he adopts the alter ego of Clark Kent – a writer for the Jets Flyover. Chess club president and all-star medalist in KISAC, Ethan checkmates each article with brilliant sacrifices and strategies marked through each sentence. His ubiquity and endurance in the league of journalists give him an upper hand in updating the DIS community light-speed.
Elisa Triolo
Elisa Triolo, Writer, Illustrator, Broadcast Journalist
Now in her senior year, Elisa Triolo takes the world by storm with her enthusiasm and creativity. She shares her strong opinions in her craft with conviction and whimsical humor. Her voice pulls you through an emotional rollercoaster with smooth richness. A philosophical enigma, she journeys through the throes of possibilities outside of the regular box we live in. 
Olya Karpenko
Olya Karpenko, Social Media Manager and Photographer
Olya Karpenko starts her second year with the Jets Flyover. In her junior year, she contributed as an illustrator, but now she expands her skills to take on the role of social media manager. Through a strong passion for art, design, photography, and editing, Olya brings a creative eye to every project she takes on. Outside of school, she enjoys music, TV, and of course, catching up on sleep.
