Tech Trouble: Webcam Safety

“Guys! Please turn on your cameras!” This is a common phrase we heard during online learning. Cameras are used for many reasons: teachers use it to watch if students focus during class, friends use it to check on each other and study together, and hackers use it to hack. Wait, what? Hacking? Yes, hacking has become very common especially during the pandemic era. Many students around DIS have been using everyday items to block their cameras’ lenses. This is because webcams, if hacked, can become a peephole into your personal life.
