The Mini Jets form a formation with powerful poses, their arms raised with pom-poms in hand. Their coordinated movements and expressions reflect their teamwork, creativity and passion.

The elementary school Jets concluded their winter season with an assembly on March 3. The event featured performances by the rock band and the Mini Jets, announcements of the Veterans in our Hearts (VIOH) art and poetry contest awards, Research 101 essay day camp awards and recognition of elementary volleyball. The assembly ended on a high note with a performance by the Elementary Dance Team and scenes from Encanto presented by the drama club.

Fresh off a life-changing summer journalism course at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Jio Kim returns to the staff for her fifth year. As a lifelong lover of books and history, she hopes to pen controversial and thought-provoking articles. Outside of the newsroom, you’ll probably find her on Duolingo picking up a new language.

Jasmine Lee joins the newsroom for her final year of high school. She spent three and a half long years in Shanghai because of her father’s job. Not a big fan of the city, she still misses the friends she made in China. Senior year is not Jasmine’s first foray in the media. She worked on the school broadcasting club at her middle school in Seoul, in a program akin to JBS. And in Shanghai, Jasmine wrote school news at her former campus, SMIC. In the past, Jasmine was fluent in Chinese, but now she claims her proficiency dropped. Still, she steps up to the challenge and joins AP Chinese with Mr. Zhao.

Senior Noah Lee enters his first year on the yearbook staff. He specializes in capturing funny and unforgettable moments through photography, and aims to bring a fresh perspective to the yearbook. Outside of school, Noah spends most of his time on the basketball court, where he finds both excitement and inspiration in the game. When not on the court or behind the camera, he enjoys the Samsung Lions KBO team and baseball video games.

Noah Hwang enters his first year as a photographer. A 13-year veteran of DIS and a member of the KISAC “All-Tournament Team”, he demonstrates his passion for school and sports on a daily basis. In his free time, he tends to grind on Clash Royale and relaxes with his cat, Daisy. He always craved the spotlight in childhood. And now Noah Hwang joins the staff  to give others in his community the opportunity to live his dream. Noah continues to grow, improve, thrive, and he works his hardest to make his photos museum-worthy.
