[Photos] A snowy break turns campus into a winter treat

Senior Christine Mason and juniors Leewen Wang and Belle Kim giggle as snow flutters around them. Excited by the snowfall, the trio tosses handfuls of snow at one another, brightening the chilly day with laughter.

An unexpected snowfall marked the start of the week on Feb. 2, as the first snow of the season covered the campus in white. Coinciding with a scheduled early release, students from several grade levels spent time outdoors and enjoyed the rare snowfall. Teachers, students and faculty took part in snowball fights, snowman building and informal gatherings across campus. The snowfall briefly altered the school’s routine and atmosphere, turning the campus into a winter setting for a day of social gathering.

As a lifelong lover of books and history, she hopes to pen controversial and thought-provoking articles. Outside of the newsroom, you’ll probably find her on Duolingo picking up a new language.

Beatrice serves as a photographer and designer for the yearbook. She loves capturing moments that tell a story. She turns special moments into creative layouts that bring each page to life. Beatrice joined the staff because she enjoys the combo of photography and storytelling, and she takes pride in the help she provides other staff members. The yearbook serves as something people will treasure for years, and Beatrice treasures that. Outside of school, she spends her time listening to music, taking photos, and dancing.
Brian Cho
Brian Cho, Broadcast Journalist and Photographer
Brian Cho, a beginner broadcast journalist and also a photographer, enters his first foray into video production and yearbook design. Brian has a strong interest in digital design. Additionally, influenced by the reputation of the Yearbook team, he has joined and is currently an active member of the DIS Yearbook team. As the Head of Designer in HOSA and the Historian/Webmaster for NAHS, Brian developed a keen interest in art and design.
Chloe Timper
Chloe Timper, Photographer
Chloe Timper picks up her career in photography after a brief hiatus. She finds her deepest joy in singing, so much so that she joined the DIS rock band, Phall. She challenges herself with the bass and electric guitar. With the majority of her time spent listening to music, watching movies, or talking at 1,000 words per minute, she lives for deep thinking and even deeper conversation. She loves to make people laugh, creativity, and collecting all sorts of vinyls and books. Chloe joined the yearbook staff to better her photography skills. She comes from a paltry town in Wisconsin, with hopes to leave it all behind and start over here in Daegu.

Maddox Jolly joins the yearbook staff as a photographer for the first time. A member of the KISAC “All-Tournament Team” and 13-year DIS veteran, Maddox enjoys sports and education. His keen eye for photography and dedication to capturing moments that tell a story serve as the reasons he enrolled in the yearbook class. Maddox shows emotion and enthusiasm through every picture he snaps, whether everyday situations, sports, or portraits. An avid gamer, Minecraft tops his list of favs.

Noah Hwang enters his first year as a photographer. A 13-year veteran of DIS and a member of the KISAC “All-Tournament Team”, he demonstrates his passion for school and sports on a daily basis. In his free time, he tends to grind on Clash Royale and relaxes with his cat, Daisy. He always craved the spotlight in childhood. And now Noah Hwang joins the staff  to give others in his community the opportunity to live his dream. Noah continues to grow, improve, thrive, and he works his hardest to make his photos museum-worthy.
