Middle school students and chaperones gathered across campus for a night of Halloween fun hosted by the Middle School Student Council (MSSC) on Friday, Oct. 31. Festive activities enticed students to socialize, compete, and unwind.
Teachers and student leaders ran cooperative game stations, including volleyball, zombie soccer, musical chairs, mystery box, costume contest, caterpillar game, ghost golf, and mummy wrap. With the night packed full of spirited activities, the council’s teamwork kept the party running smoothly.
Treasurer Minju Koo helped spearhead new additions to the gala, such as mummy wrap and musical chairs. Koo said, “We tried to do some more sports activities and some special activities related to Halloween, and we had some special stations.”
The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) collaborated with the MSSC from the start and supported the evening with food and decorations. “Halloween is the biggest event in the year; we are their parents, so we wish for them to have fun,” said eighth grader Sophia Sung’s mom.
Thanks to the PTO’s involvement, the student council focused more on preparation and less on finances. Mrs. Jolly, the council advisor, said, “This year, I think what was special is the involvement of the middle school PTO parents who came and helped out with all the food and everything. I didn’t have to worry about anything.”
Middle school parents brought catering and decorated the Jetnasium. “The school offers limited financial aid; we wish to have more than that. By collecting money from the middle school parents, we can donate money to these events,” sixth grader Vivian Lee’s mom said.
With strong collaboration between the MSSC and PTO, the night unfolded with nonstop energy as students rotated from station to station to compete in sports and games. Lake Son in seventh grade said, “We had a variety of activities. And we were allowed to wear costumes, which was very enlightening. There were many fun factors.”
Each stop offered its own challenges and unforgettable moments. “My favorite part during [musical chairs] was when one of the people tried to take the chair and just ran away with the chair, and that was kind of funny, that person also lost so it was funny,” said eighth grader Aiden Shin.
After they burned off energy, partygoers treated themselves with a spread of appetizers and snacks. “There were Taiwanese sandwiches, and many students loved the fruit as well.” Sung’s mom said.
Participants lined up to select treats and enjoy them at the outdoor picnic tables. Eighth grader Pyo Hong said, “I tried the strawberry cream donut. It was sweet and tasted really good and soft. It was my favorite.”
As the evening wound down, everyone gathered at the Jetnasium for a final celebration. Organizers hosted a costume contest and took group photos to culminate their festivities. Mrs. Jolly said, “Thank you everyone for coming, and thank you to all the teachers that helped out because you can’t do it without the chaperones. It takes time from their Friday nights, so I appreciate that.”
Looking ahead, the PTO remains eager to assist student events. Sung’s mom said, “If the middle schoolers need more help, then we can support them anytime, we are here for them.” The Halloween Party not only brought the middle school community together but also set the mood for more spirited events to come.

I think that the Halloween Party was very fun with a lot of activities! (Volleyball was really great and fun) I had a great time with my friends, and I think that it was really good. I hope that next year, the next middle schoolers also have a memorable time with their friends!

I really enjoyed this year’s Halloween Party! The weather was a bit cold to play sports outside, but I definitely had fun playing futsal and musical chairs in the field. It was a great time to spend time with friends doing many sports activities! I liked the date because it was hosted on the exact day of Halloween 🙂
