[Photos] Spotlight on students at the Winter Assemblies

Students, parents, faculty, and staff congregated in the Jetnasium for two assemblies held just before the winter break. On Dec. 8, elementary schoolers gathered in the morning, and secondary students took their turn later in the afternoon. Emcees Juniors Jessica Woo and Sunny Oh guided the audiences throughout the recitals.

The event showcased the achievements of scholars throughout the first semester with awards endowed to recipients. Drama Club, Rock Bands, Dance Teams, and Girl Scouts provided the icing on the cake with appealing performances.

The assemblies commemorated a successful start to the 2023-2024 school year. The facilitators, such as performers, emcees, and stage managers, organized from weeks before to prepare for the big day. Their efforts led to a huge success. The DIS community came together to demonstrate school spirit, and the Jets aspire to continue their arduous journey into the remainder of the school year.

Anna Yoon, Writer
Since elementary school, Anna Yoon soaked up music and sports like a sponge. Skiing, volleyball, and the flute truly pique her interest.  As first chair in the orchestra and vice president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, Anna proves that nothing can stop her once she puts her mind to it. Cath loves writing stories and making art. Luckily, God gifted her a talented left hand. As the vice president of the National Arts Honor Society, she can be seen drawing around campus. Cath explores many different genres of books, music, movies, and activities, and is willing to explore more about them throughout her experience as the editor-in-chief. All she needs is paper, a pencil, an eraser, and her dog, Russell. Cath writes, illustrates comics, edits articles, and manages the Jets Flyover.
Christine Park, Illustrator
After years of persuasion from her peers that sparked intrinsic motivation, Christine Park finally enters Journalism as a senior. Chris’s greatest passion revolves around the field of art and anime. Her role as the president of the National Art Honors Society and Visual Arts Club proves the enthusiasm she bears for artistry. As the new illustrator for the Jets Flyover, Chris is eager to dive into journalism and share her artwork and comics with a wider audience.
