[Photos] Jets finish the year off with a final assembly

The Illusion Dance Team shows off their hard work on stage. As for the seniors, because it’s there last time being on stage, they give it their all.

Students, teachers, and staff gathered in the Jetnasium to mark a memorable end of the school year on June 5, 2024. The final assembly boosted school spirit with rock music, dance performances, and award ceremonies. Parent visitors especially loved the Mini Jets and Elementary Rock Band performances.

Many students also experienced bittersweet emotions for graduating seniors. The Illusion Dance team expressed their gratitude to the school community as they bowed for the final time in their high school career. The beloved band Blastoise announced their disbandment after many years together as the members prepared to graduate. With laughter and tears, the school closed its gates for the summer.

Promoted to editor, Jerome Kwon enters journalism class with a heart full of hopes and an adaptable mindset. DIS teachers serve as his role models, especially ones known for their work ethic and hilarious sense of humor. Always open to fierce sociopolitical arguments, he prepares to break new ground with heavy opinion pieces. Jerome dreams of great achievements with his comrades in the DIS media program.

Esther Choi, Photographer and Broadcast Journalist

Esther, a bright-eyed bushy-tailed photographer, learned the art and skill of photojournalism just this year. Her passion for capturing moments and storytelling brought her to the DIS media team. Esther spends her time on the Competitive Debate Team and editing videos for the Jet Stream. She likes to argue with others with precision logic. You can find Esther filming interviews and Shorts for DISTV. In her spare time, she enjoys crochet, crafts, and music.

Leanne Yoon, Editor in Chief

Leanne Yoon, dubbed as “Lenny” by her close friends, (finally) joins the Journalism class in her junior year as the Editor-in-Chief of the Jets Flyover. She makes up for her short stature with fiery charisma and passion. As an active leader of clubs such as Students Organizing Against Racism, Debate Club and String Orchestra, Leanne often ponders on what else she could bring to her fellow Jets. Off-campus, she shares her perspectives with an international audience in countries ranging from the United Arab Emirates to France. Leanne writes, takes photos, edits articles, and manages the Flyover.

The music performances were great because everybody played amazing, they must have amazing teachers. I am waiting for the next assembly!

I thought that the finishing assembly was awesome!! I really liked the songs from the rock bands and how there were laughters and tears in the assembly.
