As the year draws to an end, I decided to compile my musical journey. This year, I listened to a plethora of metal and rock. These particular albums not only helped me go about my daily life but also led me through tedious study sessions. They work for any sort of occasion. Alone in your room? Dance along to it. Need to cram for a test? Lock in with it. Truly works wonders.
1. Bloody Kisses - Type O Negative
Type O Negative, my favorite goth metal band, makes me tune in for many hours nonstop. Some may call "Bloody Kisses" overrated or bland – however, I simply cannot get enough of it. Peter Steele, the leader and vocalist, truly brings out deep and beautiful tones in this album. Therefore, it lands on my list for this year.
My favorite song from this album: "Christian Woman"
2. Favourite Worst Nightmare - Arctic Monkeys
Arctic Monkeys claim the spot of my all-time favorite band. This year, I devoted myself to “Favourite Worst Nightmare,” which utilizes harsher tones and brings out an aggressive but lively mood, which I found useful for studying.
My favorite song from this album: "Teddy Picker"
3. Facelift - Alice In Chains
Alice In Chains sits comfortably on this list as one of my favorite groups. Their album, "Facelift," serves up wicked allusions in their song lyrics like “Name your God and bleed the freak.” In my opinion, their style brings out a sense of freedom.
My favorite song from this album: "Bleed The Freak"
4. Around The Fur - Deftones
Another one of my all-time favorite bands, Deftones, climbs up on this list with the album “Around the Fur,” featuring Chino Moreno, whose vocals take you to an entirely different dimension. His voice alone should receive the band an award. In my opinion, this album shows their skills the best, both vocally and lyrically.
My favorite song from this album: "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)"
5. Results May Vary - LimpBizkit
LimpBizkit, whilst no longer active, remains one of the most recognizable rock bands to date. Fred Durst, the vocalist, never shied away from controversy with other bands. Despite this, he produced “Results May Vary,” which hit fans and newcomers right in the sweet spot.
