3. Girls Band Cry (series)
“Girls Band Cry” creates its scenes with computer-generated imagery (CGI) techniques. Although most believe that the technique produces comparatively poor quality illustrations compared to 2D, hand-drawn anime, “Girls Band Cry” completely debunks the myth. The CGI technique fits the performance scenes perfectly: the scene’s complete animation enabled dynamic camera movements that 2D animation cannot easily achieve. If you have never watched CGI anime before, I recommend “Girls Band Cry” as a starter.
4. Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle (movie)
“Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle” continues the legacy of the renowned film Haikyuu!!. The whole run-time of an hour and a half consists of one full volleyball game between two high schools, Nekoma and Karasuno. The anime series “Haikyuu!!” featured dynamic cinematography that enhanced the volleyball scenes, and this movie did not disappoint as well. The appropriate usage of flashbacks and the incorporation of a first-person perspective throughout the film had a strong emotional impact. If you love the Haikyuu!! series orsports anime in general, then I strongly recommend “Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle” to you.
5. Bocchi the Rock: Re: Re: (movie)
“Bocchi the Rock: Re: Re:” is a sequel to “Bocchi the Rock: Re:” the anime I reviewed back in September. I liked the first movie, but the second movie took it to the next level. The storyline mainly revolved around Kita’s musical development and the friendship between Bocchi and Kita, which definitely set it apart from the first movie, where Bocchi’s social anxiety took the spotlight. Moreover, the spectacular animation of the performances left me in awe. If you love rock bands and rock music, I recommend “Bocchi the Rock: Re: Re:” to you.
