Old money aesthetic – the timeless fashion of the elite. Sophie adored it, embracing it as her signature look these days. Bonnie, however, wasn’t as sold. After all, being mistaken for older than she actually was didn’t exactly make her swoon over these classic pearls and fancy clothes.
Coquette – Coquette style, often tied to the ballet-core aesthetic, is all about ribbons, soft colors, and dainty details. But Bonnie wasn’t having it – she found the trend’s lacy aesthetic too childish for her taste. Sophie wasn’t a fan either; to her, the overuse of this look felt like a fashion cliché, stripping away the uniqueness that makes an aesthetic stand out.
Y2K – Low-rise jeans, Nokia flip phones, and Juicy Couture tracksuits are just a few of the essential items that make up the fashion trend, Y2K, A.K.A. the year 2000s. Well-known icons from this era include Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Christina Aguilera. Though born in the late 2000 Sophie approves this trend and implies that it is the ‘prime’ era of fashion trends. On the same page, Bonnie adores the sense of nostalgia that allows teenagers to experience the 2000s.
VSCO girl – The VSCO girl aesthetic translates into the wardrobe of 2020. With the lockdown during the COVID era, this style was introduced through a viral social media app, Tiktok. A few items that define this trend are Hydroflasks, scrunchies, and wearing messy buns. While Sophie mentioned that her younger self would’ve died for this vibe, the 2024 Sophie disagrees, reminiscing her “cringe” phase. On the other hand, Bonnie fancies the vibrant outfits and the beachy atmosphere the VSCO girl trend is giving.
