Brewing History at Mido Teahouse

In the bustling heart of Daegu, quietly stands Mido teahouse, a century-old haven where time seems to pause. Adorned with cultural paintings and antique charm, it preserves the warmth of Korea’s past. The owner, who has run the teahouse since the 1980s, welcomes every guest with grace in traditional Korean clothing, known as Hanbok. The teahouse’s vintage ambience holds the lingering traces of the many lives and stories it has welcomed.

Kicking off her junior year, Sophie Lee returns to the Jets Flyover crew as a broadcast journalist. Besides the Jets Flyover, Sophie participates as the zealous lead singer of the DIS Rock Band, the voice of the school in Jets Broadcasting Service, and a ton more. She jams to R&B and channels her love for music into every aspect of her life. Sophie keeps up with pop-culture trends and chats with her friends about the newest and coolest issues. With her unique hobby of hunting down hidden gems in her neighborhood, she lives for food. Whether through articles, videos, or podcasts, Sophie can’t wait to share the latest gossip, reviews, and her opinions with the DIS community.

Bonnie Kim, Broadcast Journalist and Writer

Bonnie Kim returns to the Flyover as an optimistic junior indulged in writing and podcasting. Passionate for her extracurriculars, which include the Jets Broadcasting System (JBS), Students Organizing Against Racism (SOAR), and journalism, Bonnie loves to share her unique perspective on social issues through DIS media outlets. Outside of the newsroom, you’ll find her torching her quads at the gym or laughing her guts out with her fellow dorm dwellers.

Reina Li, Illustrator

Reina Li joins the Jets Flyover staff as an illustrator, armed with her love for art and graphic design. Skilled in various art mediums, she creates visuals that bring stories to life. When she’s not in the newsroom, Reina spends quality time with friends and explores new food around Esia. Her outgoing personality draws her friends into adventures, and her curiosity powers creativity and her art.
