[Photos] Key Club and Minhwa Club join forces to celebrate Korean culture through traditional arts and crafts

Elementary students attended the cultural commemoration sponsored by the Minhwa Club and the Key Club on April 24 to learn the beauty of Korean culture. Through hands-on lessons, budding artists created their own kites and drew minhwa (민화), a tradition of folk painting rooted in Korean history. The students left the room with masterpieces in their hands and a deep appreciation for Korean traditions.

Apple, a sophomore and avid writer, returns for her second year on the Jets Flyover staff. Determined to immerse herself in all aspects of the DIS community, she participates in an array of lunch clubs and ASAs including MUN, SKAC sports, and Jets Flyover. In her leisure time, she loves to read or listen to music. You can often find her tucked away in a corner with a good show or under the covers with her nose buried in her all-time favorite novel – Pride and Prejudice.

Kate Lee, Social Media Director

Kate ventures into her senior year as social media director of the Flyover. As someone who enjoys movies and film analysis, she immerses herself in the world of videography and cinematography. Outside the classroom, Kate enjoys playing the cello, a skill she’s cultivated since elementary school. She spends countless hours unwinding with video games alongside friends. As the school’s social media director, she crafts posts that bridge the gap between the school community and the outside world, and uses storytelling to foster connection and engagement.
