Fourteen schools across the nation gathered for the Korean International Music Educators Association (KIMEA) festival held at Korea International School Pangyo (KISP) on March 11. The Honor Band Festival, the gathering ground for talented musicians, required auditions for three bands: blue, red, and gold — in ascending order of difficulty.
Up early at dawn, the DIS musicians traveled to the home of the KIS Phoenixes. By 10 am, the crew unloaded and prepped for a music-filled day. Each band then split into their designated groups under the lead of band directors from different schools. Long hours of practice culminated in a performance at three p.m. As the final notes echoed through the performing arts center (PAC), the students left with lasting memories.

I also joined the Honor band. It was such a great and fun experience and it was great to play instruments with other students from other schools. Everyone was so great at playing their instrument too! I loved that many students from our school were able to join the Honor band and have a fun music time together. I wish that many people enjoyed the performances! Also, I hope to get this opportunity again next year!!!
