Jessica, Editor-in-Chief

Q: Edit two middle school articles or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- Whole-day photos.. Obviously. I get a lot of stress when I edit articles, and I think editing two articles would eventually make me explode. Also, I actually enjoy taking photos if I don’t get any back pain.
Q: Top one article pick that you’ve ever written?
- I would probably choose either the Kim Young Woong article or the 2024 Samsung Lions season preview. Even though I’ll probably never want to write about baseball again because of the number of errors I made.. (laughs), it was truly a memorable experience for me. Writing articles about things I love really makes me happy.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in an article?
- When I was a freshman, I accidentally deleted a writer’s illustration from Google Drive. And I couldn’t find it in the trash bin so I was in panic, while my advisor bombarded me with messages. That happened during my Algebra class (Sorry Ms. Wang..), so I think that contributed to my panic. The problem was solved but still it remains as a scary memory.
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- I would probably say last year as a whole. I made many many new friends – I think I got close with many of the senior staff members, and also became really good friends with Selina. I loved taking pictures of each other on the Locket app, and weekly Rummikub sessions, and snack Fridays. Everything just feels so wholesome and nostalgic
Leanne, Editor-in-Chief

Q: Edit two middle school articles or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- In all honesty, whole day photos all the way.. Sorry middle schoolers! (laughs) I love my job, but sometimes it makes me pull my hair out, and I don’t wanna go bald.
Q: Top one article pick that you’ve ever written?
- I think it would be the feature that I wrote about Azul, and I liked it because I got to make a new friend.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in an article?
- I’ve done a lot of stupid things.. (laughs) I look at things late at night, like really really late, and the next morning, I look at it, and I’m like “Why did I do this?”
Q: If you could add any random section to the paper, what would it be?
- Um… I would add like a fun grab-bag page
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- Probably last year’s Best of SNO hype for sure, I think it was really fun. The whole rivalry with the American School of London (ASL) and Dylan (class of 2024 senior) being like “Yay! We beat ASL” was really fun.
Selina, Managing Editor

Q: Top one article pick that you’ve ever written?
- Contrary to most, I write the satire column for the fun page. My most legendary pick, even if I won Best of SNO for Kendrick, is the lunch club Tailspin that I wrote. It was the perfect balance of satire that I wanted to always write and it was right on the edge of what the school allows. Also the reactions from everyone, not even just my advisory, but everyone coming up and being like, “Yo, Selina, you can write that?” And it was just really fun.
Q: If you could add any random section to the paper, what would it be?
- I think I would add a column page where people submit – I know, like news journalism, websites say, “I highly discourage ‘Hey dear readers’” and stuff like that, but I want a section where people can write sort of a long-form format where they can share their stories. I’ve recently seen a newspaper where one guy just had a couples therapy session with a renowned therapist and figured out that he’s the problem of the relationship. I wish we had a section like that to share stuff like that.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in an article?
- I was supposed to finish my Fine Arts Festival article by Thursday at 8 pm, but for some reason, I was too tired, and I took a nap.. It was one of those naps where I just opened my eyes and it’s already like seven. I had a lot of chats from my advisor and Leanne called me like twice. Then, I was like, “Oh, I’ll finish it right now.” Luckily, I got it published and it was done on time.
Anna, Section Editor

Q: Edit two middle school articles or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- I think I would rather edit two middle school articles because when you have to take photos or videos, we have to continue to move around, but I don’t have good stamina..
Q: If you could add any random section to the paper, what would it be?
- I would make a pets column where people can post different pictures of their pets. I think that would be really cute.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in an article?
- We have a writer and illustrator that have the same name. And one day, I accidentally asked the writer for an illustration, and she was like, “Oh, you messaged the wrong person!” And I think that was really funny.
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- Oh once I showed a YouTube shorts idea to our advisor and he started laughing to the point where he was actually crying. And I think that was branded into my memory.
Jerome, Section Editor

Q: If you could add any random section to the paper, what would it be?
- I would say…Politics. In most professional news that we see in Korea, they usually have a politics section and people do want to read about politics. Even for students, if they get older, they start to care a lot about politics and when they are seniors, they get voting rights. When they vote, they should actually know what they’re voting for, and not only vote by looks. So, probably politics.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in an article?
- I cause problems.. But mistakes? I remember promising to write an article and it took me three months to write it… I’m doing it now.. (laughs) Just sometimes, I say I’ll write an article, I forget, so I don’t write my article for a very long time. So I think that’s a mistake I make. At school, I think I usually focus on editing rather than writing my own article, so I think that’s why.
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- I think my favorite memories were editing younger kids who weren’t really good, and making them better. I had a student where at first she wasn’t that good, but she really started improving and won writing awards, so that really made me happy.
Annie, Section Editor

Q: Edit two middle school articles or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- I’d rather edit two middle school articles. Both are kind of tiring, but I think going to an elementary school tournament would be really tiring. I’ve been to a middle school girls tournament, but that was also really tiring.. (laughs) So, I think articles would be better.
Q: Top one article pick that you’ve ever written?
- Oh I wrote a lot of articles, I don’t remember all of them, but, like, what I remember was the rapid coverage for the KISAC middle school soccer article, and I remember it because like the article itself had good results.
Q: If you could add any random section to the paper, what would it be?
- I saw a lot of schools covering global news. Because I think adding those categories would be very interesting.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in an article?
- For writing an article, there was a photo of a girl, and for the caption, I accidentally said “he” instead? And when I was publishing I accidentally flipped a person’s head.. (laughs) for his staff profile.
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- I think it would be snack Fridays because we have a lot of fun.
Apple, Section Editor

Q: Edit two middle school articles or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- Take photos for a whole day! I enjoyed taking photos for the ES SKAIS futsal divisionals, and would love to do this again.
Q: If you could add any random section to the paper, what would it be?
- Maybe a section to publish schoolwork or research that our students have done. For example, we could publish a STEM fair project, NHD work, or science reports.
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- I think my favorite memory is when a pile of photos needed captions, so all editors came up with quirky captions for dynamic photos together. I remember laughing with the team and bonding with this experience!
Ethan, Retired Sports Editor

Q: Edit two middle school articles or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- I’ll go to the elementary sports tournament to see my girlfriend from Busan.
Q: If you could add any random section to the paper, what would it be?
- Uh, honestly, I would just add like.. Politics and DIS students’ views on politics. I would also want to add a cooking section so I can be home, and when I want to eat something, I could just look at Jets Flyover and look at what to eat.
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- Definitely the time where there were so many snacks during Snack Fridays. (Jessica: That’s probably me. Ethan: ..Not her.) But anyways, there were many snacks I liked and Caprison as well, so that would be my favorite memory.
Eugene, Writer

Q: Edit two middle school articles or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- I would choose going to an elementary sports tournament because I want to skip school. I don’t like my classes. I want to graduate.
Q: Top one article pick that you’ve ever written?
- It would probably be my ssi-jang article. It was fun eating all the food, meeting new people, and it brought up old memories.
Q: If you could add any random section to the paper, what would it be?
- I would say school, especially teacher gossip and lunch reviews. Because I wanted to see what people think about our school lunch.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in an article?
- I deleted my interview once. I freaked out.
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- Having Breakfast Fridays and chilling. It was fun when Ethan attempted to shoot our advisor with a rubber band.
Elisa, Illustrator

Q: Make two illustrations or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- It would probably be the latter option because I would get credit for that.. I know it sounds selfish.. (laughs) But for illustrations, writers take a long time to write articles, and it has to go through the editing process as well. So, I would rather take credits and go take photos.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in an illustration?
- I don’t think I’ve made mistakes because in illustrations, you get to do anything you want to? And you show it to them and if they want to change things you could just change it, so I wouldn’t say I’ve made any major mistakes. .
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- As of this year, I don’t think I have many memorable events, because we’re seniors and we’re only thinking about getting out of here. For last year, it would be that one time where we were allowed to chill and have snacks and watch a movie during class.
Kate, Social Media Director

Q: Make five posts in a day or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- For me, I would definitely choose five posts in a day. Because for me, making five posts is really easy now so I can make it in like an hour. I’ve got skills. But as for taking photos for a whole day in an elementary tournament, I think that would take a lot of work. I don’t think I could handle all the elementary school students screaming and running around because I don’t really like kids. So, I’ll choose the posting.
Q: Top one post pick that you’ve ever made?
- My top pick would be Jessica’s baseball article post. (Jessica: Really?) Yes, because I really like the article, and it’s especially about my favorite baseball player. So I looked at it several times and I took a lot of time to make the post and I think that post has the most likes.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in a post?
- I once got confused and accidentally almost posted a Jets Flyover post on my personal Instagram account. I also sometimes confuse writers, and I once mixed up different writers.
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- Once we had a snack Friday, and Elisa, Jessica, and I were drawing our advisor on the board. And we were competing to see who the best drawer was. I don’t know who won, (Jessica: It was me) but I think it was me.
Kyle, Illustrator

Q: Make 3 comics in a day or or go take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament?
- I would rather take photos for a whole day at an elementary sports tournament because I don’t like kids.
Q: Top one comic pick that you’ve ever made?
- Um.. It wasn’t able to be published.. But I drew a comic of Bunny and Daffy duck.. Uh.. kissing.
Q: Funniest/craziest mistake you’ve ever made in a comic?
- In one of my recent comics, the original joke was about a girl wanting to be treated like a dog by an older woman, but my advisor said no. Yeah, he did not like that. It was funny when I got publicly shamed during class for that.
Q: Favorite memory with the Flyover?
- I just love people reacting and leaving comments to my comic.
