Amidst eager anticipation, the play ‘Gloria, una Periodista Sin Memoria’ made a premiere on May 2. Put on by Spanish teacher Ms. Medina and her eighth grade class, the performance took place throughout the whole school day. From the countless rehearsals to the last curtain call at 2:35, the tale was one of humor, identity, and the art of linguistic exploration.
“[It was better than being in the classroom only] because on a test, there would be a lot more writing and just memorizing meanings. It’s different in a play,” said Minji Kim, the actor behind the female lead character, Gloria.
As Gloria brings the audience on a search for her memory, Ms. Medina brought the crowd together for an opening in the theatrical scene. With a start to many more possibilities, new fans await Ms. Medina and her future middle school class’s next performances.
